Conference Directives

General Conference Policies

Although AALMUN'26 is an educational exercise intended for young people, delegates are simulating the Councils of the United Nations. Thus, for the period of the conference, they must be regarded as diplomats and ambassadors for the country they are representing, as well as representatives of their individual schools.

This demands a high standard of personal conduct and behavior from all delegates, both during committee sessions and outside the logistics of the conference venue. It is extremely important for our school that delegates always behave appropriately. Therefore, schools are expected to select their students carefully and not bring to our conference any student who is likely to create a disciplinary problem.

The AALMUN'26 Secretariat will handle violations of the guidelines listed below on a case-by-case basis. Failure to abide by these guidelines could result in expulsion from the conference.

  • [ 01 ] All delegates must be in their assigned committee rooms throughout committee sessions.
  • [ 02 ] Delegates are expected to be on time to all committee sessions and mandatory events.
  • [ 03 ] Tobacco products of any kind are prohibited.
  • [ 04 ] Use or possession of alcohol is strictly prohibited for all delegates.
  • [ 05 ] Possession of facsimile weapons (including laser light pens) is not permitted.
  • [ 06 ] Delegates are expected to be respectful and mindful of all national cultures.

Dress Code

All delegates must adhere to an appropriate and professional dress code. Western Business Attire is required of all participants while committees are in session. AALMUN'26 staffers reserve the right, at their discretion, to request that delegates violating the dress code change their clothes.

Western Business Attire is not required for out-of-committee events, namely at the Gala Dinner. Still, delegates are encouraged to maintain casual but appropriate attire. If a staffer deems an outfit unacceptable, they reserve the right to ask a delegate to change.

Strictly Enforced

Social Media Policy

Delegates should not use Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, or any other social media during committee sessions. Outside of committee sessions, delegates should practice appropriate behavior on these platforms and apps.

Inappropriate posting and/or bullying via social media will not be tolerated, and students found in violation of this policy may face: i) disqualification from awards, ii) suspension from the remainder of committee sessions, and iii) dismissal from the conference.

Monitored

Undiplomatic Behavior & Harassment

All forms of undiplomatic behavior, bullying, harassment, and discrimination are not acceptable. Such acts are incompatible with AALMUN'26's educational mission and are a violation of our values. Anyone who believes they have seen or encountered such behavior should bring it to the attention of the Secretariat.

Allegations will be investigated, and a response will follow. Consequences may include issuing a verbal reprimand, expelling violators without compensation, and barring their respective schools from future involvement.

Zero Tolerance
